The best travel agent is a fabulous friend. I get most of my hotel and vacation recs from my travelistas — – they’re honest and typically have the same taste I do. When my super hip friend, Amy Steinberg, emailed me with a MUST, I had to listen. She was with me for a night on my recent trip to Miami, knew I was starting a blog, and sent me this:
An oasis in the desert. This place is such an unexpected surprise after a long week of traveling and staying in stuffy overpriced hotels. It is quiet, tasteful, and comfortable. Perfect for business or a weekend vacay. Ambiance. Service. Price. Privacy. I could not ask for anything more. I worked, I spa’d, I am now enjoying a glass of ca wine on the patio by an oasis. I am soooo relaxed. I have to work tomorrow in a close by town that might as well be a world away.
I’m staying at the westin resort and spa in rancho mirage,CA 7 miles from the Palm springs airport. About 1 mile away from the agua caliente casino resort and spa where I just had a manicure, eucalyptis steam, private pool, amazing teas, fruit and a 50 minute massage that left me on a cloud for $109. I would come back again in a heartbeat.
So my friends, the moral of the story is, when your trusted friends talk – listen. Next time I go to P.S. I’ll be staying at the Westin and Spa-ing at Agua Caliente. Done and Done.
